So I played “Cell Phone’s Dead” from Beck’s new album on my Friday night show , and I’ll be damn if there wasn’t a surge of energy running through the control booth that would make your grandma blush. It is also worth noting that this track samples the bass line from the bonus Rockit Megamix track from Herbie Hancock’s 1983 Future Shock album. It creates a sudden urge to tap ones toe and shake the hips with the funky twirling bassline. Make it on down to you local record shop (support you local indie record shop hoss’s and hossettes). As always , Beck’s at it again with another golden choon maker.
